a great post on I Downloader about the Death of Music :

Music is not dying. Music is thriving.

- There are more people playing more kinds of music now than there have ever been in the history of the planet.

- More new musical instruments have been created in the last 50 years than in the last 5 centuries.

-  More money is being spent on music – on concert tickets, ring tones, music lessons, instruments, performing rights, MP3 players, soundtracks, recordings, band merchandise, etc – than ever before.

- More people are listening to more music more often than ever before- in their cars, on their MP3 players, on their computers, in the supermarket, restaurants, gyms, on elevators and in hotel lobbies as well as live
performances, CDs and yes, even vinyl.

- There are more ways to make money from music now than ever before, and more possibilities for unprecedented access to existing and potential audiences.

oooooopsss…..it is leaking so bad…sounds like they have bad emorroids….
I just found out about this brilliant news from damion psyreviews tweets…the new shpongle album has been leaked before the official release…http://psyreviews.net/content/view/650/65/
the golden boy is crying loud on the twisted rec forum (sorry…i will not put a link to his pathetic winges)…it seems that twisted records will close very soon too (oh nooo…pls tell me this is for real….)….but somehow it is starting an uprise…for example on this blog page by Paniq (that I fully subscribe):
The Shpongle Debacle & Why My Music is Free

it is absolutely hilarious to see the reactions of this buba buba bloated rotten psy(cotic)superstars in front of the tzunami that is flooding….
and anyway…piracy or not piracy (this is soo boring)…soon legal free music will be beating the copyrighted one for numbers of releases and even quality…oh yes…wait and see…

where the soul is alive.

music is again free from any constrictions and physical ownership…we can only let it flow…enjoy the ride…sing this song. (in the toilet)

well…I double post this also here….since I am kind of proud of it…as you can see I have a serious internet habit… :-)

this is a long story…to cut it short…in Australia there are ridicolous download limits on your internet connection..and sometime they count your uploads too…

and I wasn’t aware of that at the beginning….so during the Cloudcycle production process I ended up with this bill (while I was house sitting for Ziv) : 22.333 $ (150$ for any extra giga over 60….can you believe it ???)

after some understandable panic…and many worries…finally yesterday the company cancel it

(thank for having mercy of us…telstra)…..pfffffff

(not a good day)
I had enough of Last.fm…they are not reliable…and their attitude towards little artists like me SUCKS.
once you uploaded some of YOUR music…it can easily happens that they move it to another account and you can’t manage it anymore !!!
(it did happen with some of the tracks of Cloudcycle that got attributed to Greg…or even more absurd Moreno who can’t access Peak Records catalogue..and his own royalties…).
on the top of that they now collecting money from listeners in many parts of the planet..but they seem to not share this income with us
(but probably only with BIG publishing companies) and even when they aknowledge that some money is due to you (case of Master Margherita) they actually not paying it.
this all generally attitude as I said (and I like to repeat) SUCKS ! … it’s a RIP OFF…(shame that my english vocaboulary is short of insults)..

this is why today I took off all my music from last.fm
(at least the one I could access…because some of the music on my name is managed by somebody elses…interchill maybe ?)

and I think that all of us microscopic music makers should do the same…and leave them with only rotten mainstream.

cheers

I (finally) start to be tired of this music that sound loud…and louder.
I mean…enough is enough!…let’s stop the loudness war.
the heavy use of multiband compression and brickwall limiters is killing the dynamic range…and the music.
many ppl in the music industry regard the mastering as even more important than the mixing and the recording itself.
especially record labels…they know that spending a relative small amount of money in a “good” mastering studio can transform a dodgy sounding album is a blasting hit….that will sound loud even out of the computer speakers and those crap headphones…well…true..a good mastering can really do that…
but an exagerated mastering can also kill the music…and the listener…
it’s the same for the images…all is glossy nowadays…and saturated…
I am honestly very unhappy with the mastering that mr Dave Black did for my album “viceversa” for example…too compressed…too much bass…
and I had enough of all this wobbly trend…from Tipper (his Wobble Factor is TOO LOUD!!) to blasted dubstep.
INFACT…MUSIC THAT SOUNDS TOO LOUD IS LIKE WRITING ONLY IN CAPITAL LETTERS…
or like somebody screaming all the time….
I have mastered many of the tracks of the cloudcycle project…I am not a pro masterer and I don’t have pro gear and I am not sitting in an acustic treated room…but I reckon that I can do a decent job with my software (since we can’t afford to pay for a mastering session)…not as loud but loud enough…
but now I realized that I pushed the level of some tunes too much…trying to be loud as the trend…
so after a lot of reading (and listening)…I decided to remaster them…at a lower level…with little compression and very little limiting…so they don’t look like bricks anymore…infact…greg was right.
this are few links about the loudness war:

dynamic range foundation – an organization defending the dynamic range, they release also a free plug in to check the dynamic range.

I just moved to a new place in the bush down here in australia.
all is groovy apart of the bloody internet connection…been already few weeks offline and they told me that they don’t know yet if I will get broadband… :-(
so I am a bit slow and stuck with my net activities…sorry about that..
in the meantime working on few different projects…cloudcycle (off course)…
a rmx for Warp Technique…and setting up Bakshish Music..an anti-label that will start soon to release some good music.
wish me luck with that plug.

I never liked them…as support for music it sucks…
they told us the story they sound better and that they would last forever…the first lies of the digital age…
but….maybe there was a good reason….and a good way to recycle all that plastic….
