I just finished to read a great revolutionary book : expect resistance

———————————————

They called us bourgeois for urging people to abandon bourgeois culture.
They called us anti-worker for refusing complicity in exploitation.
They dismissed our advocacy of plagiarism as unoriginal.
They mocked us for producing paper bullets,
Then cried foul play when those projectiles hit their targets.
When we subsisted on crusts of bread, they insisted it was the upper crusts;
When we discovered cornucopias of abundance, they preferred their sour grapes.
We’ve been branded militants and dilettantes, black bloc and bête noire, primus inter pariahs.

We reply, as Marie Antoinette might have, that they can have their words and eat them too—like Samuel Clemens, we don’t care what our detractors say about us, so long as they don’t tell the truth.

Long ago, we embarked on the greatest adventure of our lives: the total rejection of hierarchy, submission, and tedium, of status and status quo. Seceding from an entirely colonized world, we cast ourselves as crash-test dummies in a life-or-death mission to smash through the walls of capitalism.

Contrary to all expectations, we’ve survived. To our surprise, we are now able to present Expect Resistance, a coded account of our adventures hitting those walls and a full report on our findings beyond them.

Printed in stunning black and red and bound in the skin of corporate executives, Expect Resistance is the perfect coffee table book for anyone who lives out of a backpack. Our writers have spent years experimenting with every possible extremity of existence; our editors have spent months hammering out imperfections and adding sickles to the periods to turn them into question marks; our designers, as everyone knows, are the best in the business, not to mention the best against it. A thousand sleeper cells across the planet prepare to swing into action as this announcement is typed.

Concerned citizens may object that some of the raw materials from which this book has been assembled have yet to enter the public domain; we ask them to think of Expect Resistance as a book ahead of its time.

To enjoy your very own copy of Expect Resistance, simply commit to a project as ambitious and absurd as our own, blunder obstinately forward for several years, then send a few dollars to CrimethInc. Far East to defray printing and shipping expenses. Better yet, save your money and request a copy at your local library.

Still in love with all of you and the amazing things we have yet to do–

–your faithful ex-workers

They will say we refused everything to make a beautiful but utopian negation—as if it were just a work of art we were out to create. They will say that, like generations of nihilists before us, we uttered our grandiose denial and then were driven by it into the wilds of oblivion. They will praise the product—product being their specialty—and deny the evidence. They will imply that we could not have lived—but we do live, we live!—and so we give you these fragments, this poorly charted record, to spit in their faces… or whisper in their ears as they sleep.

———————————————–

I have been in jail…in sydney….(what a shithole).
2 months ago I got busted by the australian police growing my sweet marijuana plants…(not many)
I did 3 weeks in it…it was a very nasty experience…worst than in the movies.
they chuck me in a lockroom for 5 days…no telephone calls…no time out…not even cigarettes…not even a book…no nada…
i have been treated like shit…they abused of my basic (prisoner) human rights…
and then they sent me to a maximum security jail (after 14h trip in truck) in company with murderers and such.
now I am out on bail…my life is disrupted and totally scattered…crumbling…and not sure about the next future…waiting for a sentence.
just another episode of the ridiculous, painful and retrograde oppressive persecusion against a plant and the ppl who love to smoke it like me…
i imagine that the ppl who read this blog are enough evolved and i don’t need to explain and convince you about how stupid all this story is…but I am in it…sucked in…waiting to know my destiny.
only when you face the “justice” machine you realize how twisted it is…and how useless…just another corrupted biz…run by those idiots.

a great post on I Downloader about the Death of Music :

Music is not dying. Music is thriving.

- There are more people playing more kinds of music now than there have ever been in the history of the planet.

- More new musical instruments have been created in the last 50 years than in the last 5 centuries.

- More money is being spent on music – on concert tickets, ring tones, music lessons, instruments, performing rights, MP3 players, soundtracks, recordings, band merchandise, etc – than ever before.

- More people are listening to more music more often than ever before- in their cars, on their MP3 players, on their computers, in the supermarket, restaurants, gyms, on elevators and in hotel lobbies as well as live
performances, CDs and yes, even vinyl.

- There are more ways to make money from music now than ever before, and more possibilities for unprecedented access to existing and potential audiences.

oooooopsss…..it is leaking so bad…sounds like they have bad emorroids….
I just found out about this brilliant news from damion psyreviews tweets…the new shpongle album has been leaked before the official release…http://psyreviews.net/content/view/650/65/
the golden boy is crying loud on the twisted rec forum (sorry…i will not put a link to his pathetic winges)…it seems that twisted records will close very soon too (oh nooo…pls tell me this is for real….)….but somehow it is starting an uprise…for example on this blog page by Paniq (that I fully subscribe):
The Shpongle Debacle & Why My Music is Free

it is absolutely hilarious to see the reactions of this buba buba bloated rotten psy(cotic)superstars in front of the tzunami that is flooding….
and anyway…piracy or not piracy (this is soo boring)…soon legal free music will be beating the copyrighted one for numbers of releases and even quality…oh yes…wait and see…

where the soul is alive.

music is again free from any constrictions and physical ownership…we can only let it flow…enjoy the ride…sing this song. (in the toilet)

(not a good day)
I had enough of Last.fm…they are not reliable…and their attitude towards little artists like me SUCKS.
once you uploaded some of YOUR music…it can easily happens that they move it to another account and you can’t manage it anymore !!!
(it did happen with some of the tracks of Cloudcycle that got attributed to Greg…or even more absurd Moreno who can’t access Peak Records catalogue..and his own royalties…).
on the top of that they now collecting money from listeners in many parts of the planet..but they seem to not share this income with us
(but probably only with BIG publishing companies) and even when they aknowledge that some money is due to you (case of Master Margherita) they actually not paying it.
this all generally attitude as I said (and I like to repeat) SUCKS ! … it’s a RIP OFF…(shame that my english vocaboulary is short of insults)..

this is why today I took off all my music from last.fm
(at least the one I could access…because some of the music on my name is managed by somebody elses…interchill maybe ?)

and I think that all of us microscopic music makers should do the same…and leave them with only rotten mainstream.

cheers

I (finally) start to be tired of this music that sound loud…and louder.
I mean…enough is enough!…let’s stop the loudness war.
the heavy use of multiband compression and brickwall limiters is killing the dynamic range…and the music.
many ppl in the music industry regard the mastering as even more important than the mixing and the recording itself.
especially record labels…they know that spending a relative small amount of money in a “good” mastering studio can transform a dodgy sounding album is a blasting hit….that will sound loud even out of the computer speakers and those crap headphones…well…true..a good mastering can really do that…
but an exagerated mastering can also kill the music…and the listener…
it’s the same for the images…all is glossy nowadays…and saturated…
I am honestly very unhappy with the mastering that mr Dave Black did for my album “viceversa” for example…too compressed…too much bass…
and I had enough of all this wobbly trend…from Tipper (his Wobble Factor is TOO LOUD!!) to blasted dubstep.
INFACT…MUSIC THAT SOUNDS TOO LOUD IS LIKE WRITING ONLY IN CAPITAL LETTERS…
or like somebody screaming all the time….
I have mastered many of the tracks of the cloudcycle project…I am not a pro masterer and I don’t have pro gear and I am not sitting in an acustic treated room…but I reckon that I can do a decent job with my software (since we can’t afford to pay for a mastering session)…not as loud but loud enough…
but now I realized that I pushed the level of some tunes too much…trying to be loud as the trend…
so after a lot of reading (and listening)…I decided to remaster them…at a lower level…with little compression and very little limiting…so they don’t look like bricks anymore…infact…greg was right.
this are few links about the loudness war:
loudness wars (wikipedia)
this is a very interesting (long) article that gives actually good reasons to my feelings.

facebook…with friends like this…(from The Guardian)

“So by his own admission, Thiel is trying to destroy the real world, which he also calls “nature”, and install a virtual world in its place, and it is in this context that we must view the rise of Facebook. Facebook is a deliberate experiment in global manipulation, and Thiel is a bright young thing in the neoconservative pantheon, with a penchant for far-out techno-utopian fantasies. Not someone I want to help get any richer.” Tom Hodgkinson on The Guardian

this is an interview with revolve magazine – summer issue 2k8

Does your name mean anything ?

mauxuam is a palindrome – a word from the language spoken on the planet Ummo where I lived for a few years.
Everybody is telepathic so they speak using words very difficult to pronounce and without meaning to make jokes and laugh at the sound of it.

tell us about your musical history.

I started to do music a long time ago. In 1989 I founded the Lost Legion Alien Collective which had many different releases throughout the 90s in europe and america. One of our creatures was Ohmega Tribe, an ambient trance project that released an album in 1995 for Silent records – a seminal ambient label from SF – as well as many tracks on compilations. Our live band was Technogod, kind of a industrial hiphop crossover. We did 3 albums and a few european tours as the supporting act for Meat Beat Manifesto, Young Gods and Consolidated. We split in 1997 and I continued for a few years as a producer in the italian music industry doing remixes, productions and soundtracks for adverts. I got so disgusted by that commercial filth that I dropped out, sold all my equipment and I went traveling without a fixed base for many years. I only started to write some music again 4 years ago as an hobby – this time as a professional amateur.

Your music has a really spacey and psychedelic flavour to it, what’s influenced its creation ?

do you think so ? I guess that my experiences with psychoactive substances has something to do with it…but also the reality show, the apocalypse approaching, the human ordeals, the weather, nature, the universal spirit, my demons, my lovers.
Music is out there, I grab it, channel it, mix it…usually at late night.
Very often the tunes are taking control and they start to evolve by themselves, they have their own life.

When it came to writing an entire album, how did you decide to approach it ?

I decided to re open, remix and deconstrukt my tunes with the intention to output a sound, fresh and coherent in time – in the now. My goal was to break through the parameters of the psychilldub scene, to explore new territories, take some risks, to surprise myself and to be curious again. I locked myself in somewhere desolate, most of the time without even internet and did a disciplined baba life for a few months. I let myself go mad with it.

Please tell us about a couple of your favourite tracks and why they are your favourite

my favourite tracks ever ?
Future days by Can (1972) – a seminal tune that has elements of much of the music nowadays.
Can’s music was truly psychedelic and experimental, endless tunes that you can drift away on.

Shakara by Fela Kuti – trances me out everytime, I can’t stay still, fu#*ing hell, I HAVE TO DANCE.

You also are a visual artist, do you work as a painter or only with moving electronic visuals, how long have you been doing this and what do your images try and convey ?

I am honestly very bad at painting and drawing.
I only play with software and I don’t really see myself as an artist but more as a navigator. I started to play with visuals during my 7 year break from music, it was refreshing to work on animations and graphics. my images are not trying to convey anything really, they are mainly abstract canvas where you can actually see and project many things.
